It is hard enough trying to fight the SS as an adult but fighting them whilst in their care is just impossible. Whilst those who are responsible for telling use how well they are doing are running the show nothing will change. The only way to make any real difference is to make those looking after care leavers different than those involved in the first place. Remove all vested interests.

Young people leaving the care system are especially vulnerable. They have likely been ‘in care’ with foster carers (not all but too many) who only do it for the money and make sure the young people know it. They do not include the cared for children in family holidays, they do nor take them shopping with them, they do not respect the young person’s belongings….. etc and allow their own child to bully the fostered child..
How many young peole receive appropriate and accurate advice about their needs and rights when they are due to leave care ? How many receive their long term savings at the time they leave ??? again some areas will be better than others… that in itself should not be allowed.. the lottery of individual SW’s or area where they live.
The way things often are these young people are disadvantaged from the out set.
